I started working as a caddie at the Latrobe Country Club in 1969. Later, I also worked in the proshop with Arnold's father, Deke. In the last several years I would caddie for Arnold when he was in town. It was a thrill, although it always made me nervious because, well, he was Arnold Palmer. The golf bag was heavy. He always had extra clubs in the bag to try out new ones and modified ones. As I have been telling people recently he was the real deal!! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed working there. I barely took any time off in the summer. I now have worked at the same company for 39 years, since I graduated from PSU, and prior to that I worked for Arnold Palmer. It was an honour!!
