First time I met Arnold Palmer was as a 19 year old working a temp job for the Golf Channel during a Senior Tour event at Quicksilver Golf Club in Pittsburgh. My job was to hold the microphone that caught sound of players hitting balls. I stood in the exact same spot for group after group. Arnie's group came up and I took my position to catch Hale Irwin on his approach shot. Hale proceeded to berate me for standing too close and being in his view on his backswing. Arnie walked up to me afterwords and said "don't mind him son...he forgot the joy in playing this game!" I've been a huge fan ever since...and Arnie even signed a picture for me wishing me good luck when I got my first Head Pro job.
