In 1968, I was 13 years old. My bar-mitzvah present was 3 weeks at the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy in Vail, Colorado. Arnie was playing in the PGA at the time, I believe in Dallas. The only major he never won. Right in the middle of the tournament, I think after the 3rd round, he flew to Vail to be with us. He met and talked to all of us and helped us with our games. I had a lot of interaction with him. How many golfers would do this. He finished 2nd to Julius Boros that year but being with us was just as important to him as the golf tournament. There will never ever be another Arnold Palmer. My boyhood idol. My adult idol. The greatest figure in sports history.
